AAFP reverses endorsement of retail clinics

The AAFP formally reversed its endorsement of retail clinics like MinuteClinic and Little Clinics you’ll find in grocery stores and pharmacies.  These clinics have continued to expand the scope of care they provide.  I’ve worried since they began that this will only fragment patient care, increasing risk and reducing clinical recognition of disease patterns.

The AAFP initially had an official policy and agreement with these clinics regarding limited scope of care for simple problems but the retail clinics have predictably moved beyond what was reasonable care.

I’m happy to see the AAFP agree with what already seemed obvious.
